Registered apprenticeship is a highly flexible training model that has been in place for thousands of years. This model combines on-the-job training and related instruction in which paid employee receive technical and practical training in highly skilled occupations. Apprentices earn as they learn. Apprenticeship offers a proven methodology that allows employers to establish the standards of proficiency required of its professionals.

The time requirements and substance of an apprenticeship training program depend on the occupation. Occupations include opportunities in healthcare, social services, building trades and hundreds of others! Apprentices work and learn under the direction of qualified personnel who are experienced in their professional field. Over time, apprenticeships are provided diverse and complex training that helps them become highly skilled in their chosen occupations. Upon completion, the apprentice receives a Certificate of Competency that is accepted within the industry nationwide and in many other countries. The certificate demonstrates the apprentice has mastered the skills of his/her profession.
